Preamble of the Foundation
The current strategic plan has been articulated and expanded upon from the following premises:
1.–In consistency with our mission, vision, and values.
2.–From our connection to the congregation of the Brothers of the La Salle Christian Schools.
3.–With loyalty to our more than two decade history.
Time Frame
The current strategic plan covers from 2008-2014.
Strategic Priorities
1.–The Millennium Development Goals (MDG), which fundamentally are objectives 2, 3, and 8.
MDG.2. Achieve universal primary education (according to the formation of goal 3).
MDG.3. Promote equality between the sexes and the autonomy of women (according to the formation of goal 4)
MDG.8. Foster a global association for development.
2.–Children´s rights (CR)
3.–Long-term alliances with other cooperative entities: universities, companies, foundations, La Salle institutions
4.–Pay special attention to Africa
Institutional Priorities
1.–Strengthen the organizational structure of PROYDE: Central headquarters, delegations, and communication between both.
2.–Continue consolidating efficient, transparent, and quality management.
3.–Increase our social base, turning into reality our slogan: ¨Many small people, in lots of small places, doing small things, can change the world.¨
4.–Improve and structure the external and internal communication of PROYDE.
In order to adequately respond to these priorities we will be working in the following areas of activity:
Area of Cooperative Projects and Programs
1.–At least 75% of the projects completed should contribute to the Millennium Development Goals 2 and 3.
2.–At least 75% of the projects completed should contribute to the improvement of the situation of children.
3.–At least 50% of the projects completed will be directed towards Africa.
4.–Prioritize long-term projects.
5.–Arrange and utilize a set of software tools in support of the management of projects.
6.–Obtain the qualification AECID of ONGD specializing in education
7.–Foster long-term sustainability of projects, primarily those that work towards self-sufficiency.
8.–Favor the projects and program in consortiums with other ONGD.
9.–Cooperate with local partners who possess labor complementary to our mission and/or develop a synergy with the Brothers of the institute of the Christian schools, especially within the scope of REDES.
Areas of Education for Development (ED) and Societal Sentiment and Interest
Institutional Strength
1.–The area of ED (Educational Development)—Through increased societal sentiment and interest we will seek to capture the funds, whether they be from public or private sources, that are needed to fulfill our own activities.
2.–Establish a long-term alliance with CSEULS for the joint fulfillment of whatever cooperative and developmental activities we choose, among the following: research, studies, materials, and activities of education for development and societal sentiment and interest.
3.–Broaden the use of new technologies in the expansion of materials.
Campaigns
1.–Fulfillment of at least three campaigns specifically relating to MDG
2.–Support and dissemination of at least one initiative of the Congregation of the Brothers of La Salle in relation to children´s rights.
3.–Fulfillment of at least one campaign specifically about Africa.
Publications and Materials
1.–Completion of at least one publication or piece of literature specifically related to MDG
2.–Completion of at least one publication or piece of literature specifically related to Africa.
3.–Expand upon a piece of high-quality material used to deepen exposure to related issues and strengthen societal sentiment and interest: PROYDE and its activities.
4.–Revision and improvement of the publication, ¨My promise¨
Activities of Societal Interest and Sentiment
Develop societal interest and sentiment about Africa and its development problem.
Fair Trade - Responsible Consumerism
1.–Open a store with the door facing towards the street in PROYDE´s social headquarters.
2.–Join the committee on fair trade and participate in campaigns with other national or European entities on fair trade
3.–Consolidate a network of points of sale in Spain with at least 15 such points.
4.–Put in place a system of internet sales.
5.–Complete at least one study or specific revelation on fair trade
6.–Actively spread and collaborate in initiatives that promote more just commercial relationships.
7.–Create a specific offering for companies to allow them to engage in fair trade.
8.–At the end of the plan all of the local delegations will know fair trade and the offerings of PROYDE in the area
9.–Propel fair trade originating from Africa.
Area of Volunteerism – AOV
1.–Institutional Strength
Consolidation of PROYDE´s local delegations
1.1.–Design a concrete structure and assignments for all personnel.
1.2.–Local delegates will be proposed through territorial delegates and will be given an appointment in writing.
1.3.–The effort will be centered on the welcoming, accompaniment and formation of local volunteering.
1.4.–All of the local and autonomous headquarters will be properly registered by the end of the plan.
2.–Define and implement an offering and experience of a longer duration for past volunteers.
3.– Achieve, through a plan or adequate offering, an insertion into organizations and structures in solidarity with our goals (preferably in PROYDE) of at least 50% of prior summer volunteers.
4.–Make available a development plan for the personnel of PROYDE
5.–Implement a system for the incorporation of AOV in internships or through other methods: master´s in cooperation; pre-work experiences, pre-retirement, etc.
Area of Social Responsibility of Businesses and Private Institutions
1.–Expand upon a protocol of conduct with companies and private institutions: Model letter of appreciation; specific logo for companies or private institutions; criteria for in-kind donations, etc.
2.–Count as stable and permanent collaborations at least 10 companies, foundations of companies, and/or private institutions.
3.–Revenues from collaborations with businesses at the end of the period should entail a relatively significant percentage of our total resources.
Area of Studies and Political Advocacy
1.–Promote the participation of PROYDE in political advocacy campaigns
Participate in at least 2 long-range campaigns in the time period: one about Africa and both in relation to the MDG goals.
2.–In concert with other ONGD and/or groupings of ONGD´s, expand upon our specific studies of Africa, which can also serve as a precedent for annual studies.
Area of Communication
1.–At the end of the plan there will exist a structure of communication
2.–Put in place and expand on an external and internal communication strategy. We should specifically consider: partners, businesses and private institutions, public organizations, the networks and groups of ONGD of which we are a member and the various means of communication.
3.–We will specifically favor close communication. This is fulfilled through the local and autonomous delegations. For this, it will include in the document the ¨structure and assignments of the delegation¨ and a protocol of internal and external communication.
Areas of Relationships with Other Cooperative Entities
1.–Participation, with special attention towards leadership, in the consolidation of REDES (networks of development-focused entities working in solidarity). Maintain the presence of PROYDE in at least two working groups.
2.–Leadership in the creation of a European network of entities of Lasalianas cooperation. To finalize the plan we should exist as a network or European grouping of some form.
3.–Active participation in the structures of solidarity North-South of La Salle on a global level: closer relationships with the service to the La Salle solidarity, Secoli, other Lasalian ONG that are not European.
4.– Leadership in the process of the convergence of the ONGD – Lasalianas, working actively so that they constitute one unique structure of North-South solidarity in ARLEP.
5.–Active participation in other opportunities for consultation and partnership: CONGDE teams, committee on fair trade, and committee on autonomous regions.
– We will participate in at least one working group of CONGDE or the committee on fair trade
–At the end of the plan we should participate in at least 75% of the committees of the autonomous regions where we have been placed
–At least 50% of the local and autonomous region teams of PROYDE will participate in cooperative councils in their surroundings.
Area of Economy
1.–Put in place at least one novel fundraising initiative: Provision of 0.7; day of salary, etc.
2.–Increase the number of partners at the end of 2007 by at least 50% and improve the quality of information to partners and collaborators.
3.–The revenues from collaborations with companies at the end of the period will be at least 25% of the total of our resources.
4.–At the end of the plan we will have caught up with the balance between public funds (public financing) and our own funds (own resources)
5.–Propel an ethical bank in PROYDE
Articulation and Development of the Strategic Plan
This plan will be articulated and developed through the annual plan that, like this, will be public.
In conclusion, the annual plans for each year will appear publicly together with the record of activities of the previous year.
Continuation and Evaluation of the Strategic Plan
The follow-up and implementation of the plan will be fulfilled through annual plans. We will complete 2 evaluations of the plan: at the end of 2011 and at the end of 2014.
The evaluations will monitor the degree and scope of the proposed goals and the impact of the plan in the fulfillment of the mission of PROYDE.
